Shree Charani T20I cricket records

Overview

Indian left-arm spinner Shree Charani has achieved several significant milestones in women’s T20I cricket. During the ACC Women’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, Charani became the first Indian woman to take more than 35 T20I wickets in a single calendar year, recording her 36th wicket of 2026. Her four-wicket haul contributed to India securing its eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.

Following her performances in the Asia Cup and the Asian Games, Charani established a new record for the highest-ever rating in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. She reached a career-best 817 points, surpassing the previous record of 806 points held by Australia’s Megan Schutt, which had stood since November 2018. Additionally, Charani became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets in women’s T20Is, achieving the feat in 29 matches.

Charani’s record-breaking ascent was bolstered by her performance at the Asian Games in Japan, where she recorded career-best figures of 4/10 against the host nation and took two wickets in the gold-medal match against Sri Lanka. Recent ranking shifts also see India’s Deepti Sharma rising to second place with 754 points, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone sits third with 723 points. In the batting rankings, India’s Smriti Mandhana returned to the top five following a score of 79 in the Asian Games final.
