Sri Lanka's Export Earnings Top $9 B in H1 2026 and Sets $5 B Digital Export Goal for 2030

Sri Lanka’s export sector recorded earnings of more than US$9 billion in the first half of 2026, a milestone praised by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). The Federation congratulated the Export Development Board (EDB) for driving growth across apparel, tea, spices, rubber and emerging technology services, noting the boost to foreign‑exchange reserves and the balance of payments.

In parallel, the government unveiled a strategic roadmap to raise digital export revenue to US$5 billion by 2030. A workshop hosted by the Ministry of Digital Economy and GovTech Sri Lanka, with technical assistance from the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation, presented an assessment report prepared by KPMG consultants. Participants discussed human‑capital development, AI‑driven business models, innovation, market access and the creation of high‑value digital products. The plan emphasizes policy reforms, investment in infrastructure and coordinated action by government agencies and the private sector to expand Sri Lanka’s presence in the global digital economy.
