SS145VAR tunnel in Campania flooded by landslide
Following severe weather on September 25, a landslide occurred near the ‘Santa Maria di Pozzano’ tunnel on the SS145VAR in the Sorrento Peninsula, specifically within the municipality of Castellammare di Stabia. The landslide caused significant flooding, with mud, debris, and water covering more than half of the 5.1 km tunnel.
Anas has initiated emergency procedures to manage traffic and clear the roadway. A bypass via the former SS145 and the Seiano tunnel has been activated to maintain circulation and alleviate pressure on Vico Equense. Technical inspections are ongoing to facilitate the restoration of the fire prevention system and address the damage caused by the flooding.
