SSNIT pays GH¢6.71 billion in benefits through September 2026
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) announced that it paid GH¢6.71 billion in benefits between January and September 2026. These payments included monthly invalidity pensions, survivors’ benefits, and emigration benefits.
To improve accessibility, SSNIT launched its 2026 Mobile Service Week in Techiman under the theme “Enhancing service through digital transformation.” The initiative involves 68 temporary service touchpoints across Ghana to assist with new memberships, benefits processing, status verification, and the merger of Ghana Card and SSNIT membership cards.
A primary goal of the campaign is to increase enrollment among self-employed individuals in the informal sector, such as farmers, traders, artisans, and drivers. General Manager Frank Molbila noted that pension processing speeds have improved, with payments now typically processed within seven working days due to digital initiatives.
