St. Anastasia Children's Hospital partners with Trakya University

The St. Anastasia Children's Hospital in Burgas, Bulgaria, has entered into a strategic partnership with Trakya University and its university hospital in Edirne, Turkey. A delegation led by Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipoglu visited the facility to initiate cooperation focused on the exchange of medical knowledge, clinical experience, and best practices in pediatrics, pediatric surgery, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation.

The agreement has addressed public concerns regarding potential issues such as the redirection of Bulgarian children for paid treatment in Turkey or a shortage of medical staff in Burgas. Rector Hatipoglu denied any economic interest in transferring patients, while local authorities clarified that the memorandum aims to foster the development of specialists and the exchange of medical practices rather than filling immediate staffing gaps. Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov described the visit as the beginning of a broad strategy for education and healthcare cooperation between the two cities.
