Trakya University and Burgas hospital medical partnership

Trakya University in Turkey and the Sveta Anastasiya Children’s Hospital in Burgas, Bulgaria, have established a medical cooperation protocol under the “Health Brotherhood Bridges Project.” The partnership is designed to enhance pediatric healthcare and academic collaboration across the Balkan region through the exchange of medical practices in fields such as pediatrics, genetics, transplants, and life-saving surgeries.

Following the signing of the agreement, a delegation led by Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipoglu visited the Burgas facility to initiate the exchange of clinical experience and best practices in areas including pediatric surgery, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation.

In response to public concerns regarding the potential redirection of Bulgarian patients for paid treatment in Turkey or local medical staff shortages, Rector Hatipoglu denied any economic interest in transferring patients. Local authorities clarified that the memorandum focuses on the development of specialists and scientific exchange rather than addressing immediate staffing gaps.
