St. Paul man stops moving school bus after driver's medical emergency
Ebro Ahmed, a resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, intervened to stop a moving school bus after witnessing the driver suffer a medical emergency. The incident occurred Monday afternoon in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood.
Ahmed observed the bus passing with its doors open and noticed the driver appeared to be having a seizure. Surveillance footage captured Ahmed running toward the vehicle and climbing aboard while it was still in motion. Once inside, he attempted to secure the vehicle by shifting it into neutral and engaging the parking brake.
There were 18 children on the bus at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported. Ahmed remained with the driver to monitor his condition until emergency responders arrived. Ahmed, who noted he has no formal medical training, credited his quick thinking to lessons learned from the television show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and stated his primary motivation was protecting the children.
