Stablecoin demand cools as Google search interest and supply contract in June 2026

In June 2026, Google search volume for stablecoins fell to a score of 31, a 54% decline from May’s 98 and well below the August 2025 peak of 100. The dip coincided with a reversal of a ten‑month expansion in total stablecoin supply, which slipped from just under $300 billion at the start of June to $5 billion lower three weeks later, leaving a year‑to‑date increase of only 0.23%.

The slowdown follows a 2025 surge driven by the GENIUS Act debate, Circle’s IPO and bank‑issued stablecoin announcements from Stripe, Visa, Mastercard and U.S. retail banks. While retail interest wanes, activity persists in parts of the market; the omnichain version of Tether’s USDT (USDT0) crossed $100 billion in cumulative cross‑chain transfer volume on 25 June, roughly 525 days after its launch.
