Polygon processes $80 billion in stablecoin transfers in May, leading all blockchains
In May 2026 Polygon moved roughly $79.25 billion to $80 billion worth of dollar‑pegged stablecoins, completing 198 million transactions – the highest transaction count of any blockchain that month. The network’s cumulative stablecoin transfer volume now exceeds $2.4 trillion. Transactions cost on average about $0.002 and settle in around two seconds, with network uptime reported at 99.99%.
Polygon’s growth follows strategic moves by Polygon Labs, including the $250 million acquisitions of Coinme and Sequence, and partnerships with Visa and Meta that integrate the chain into global stablecoin settlement pilots. The network also recorded about $309 million of Latin‑American stablecoin volume in May, highlighting its appeal in regions with costly cross‑border transfers.
Despite the surge in usage, the native POL token has not benefited in price, reflecting a broader market disconnect between network activity and token valuations. Separate data show a slowdown in developer activity across major blockchains, though Polygon remains the third‑most active network with roughly 2,200 weekly developer events.
