Stade Brestois re-releases iconic cap to honor late coach Éric Roy
Stade Brestois 29 has announced the re-release of the iconic “Team Pirates” or “King Eric” cap to honor the memory of former coach Éric Roy. Roy passed away in June at the age of 58 following a three-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
The black cap, which Roy frequently wore to conceal the effects of his medical treatments, has become a symbol of his courage and resilience. All proceeds from the sale of the caps will be donated to Innoveo, the endowment fund for the Brest University Hospital (CHU de Brest), specifically to support its oncology department.
In addition to the fundraising initiative, the club expressed gratitude to the medical teams for their dedication to patients. Stade Brestois plans to hold a special tribute to Roy during an upcoming home match against PSG.
