Stadium construction projects advance in Hunedoara and Pitești
Major sports infrastructure projects are advancing in Hunedoara and Pitești. In Hunedoara, preparatory works for the new Corvinul 1921 stadium have begun with the relocation of a large sewage collector. This technical intervention, managed by Apa Prod and funded by the Hunedoara County Council, is essential to clear the site and allow for the construction of the new arena and an underground parking lot. Demolition of the current stadium is expected to start in October, with the goal of beginning construction on the new 10,209-seat facility in January 2027.
In Pitești, construction of the Nicolae Dobrin sports complex is accelerating. The project, valued at over 374 million lei, recently included a ceremonial time capsule containing a secret letter from the legendary footballer Nicolae Dobrin, which will remain sealed until 2056. The new UEFA Category 4 stadium is designed to hold 15,200 spectators under a full roof and will operate using green energy. The structural framework is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
