Stadtradeln 2026 kicks off in Burglengenfeld and Schweinfurt county, Germany

On July 7, 2026, the town of Burglengenfeld launched the 2026 edition of the "Stadtradeln" campaign. Mayor Martin Antretter, climate‑protection manager Dominik Kerner and members of the city council rode a kickoff route through the town, promoting everyday cycling as a climate‑friendly transport mode. The event marked the start of a 21‑day period running until July 26, during which more than 16 teams and over 100 participants aim to log as many bike kilometres as possible.

In the Landkreis Schweinfurt, deputy district administrator Stefan Rottmann and mayor Johannes Grebner officially opened the campaign in Üchtelhausen. The county’s 29 municipalities will take part from June 29 to July 19, using the free Stadtradeln app to record rides and collect data for future bike‑infrastructure planning. Incentives include prizes for the most active cyclists, teams, schools and kindergartens, as well as a €400 grant for the municipality that generates the most kilometres.

Both initiatives are part of the broader German climate‑action network, encouraging citizens to substitute short car trips with cycling and to highlight areas where local bike‑paths need improvement.
