STADTRADELN cycling campaign kicks off across Baden‑Württemberg towns

From 13 June to 3 July the STADTRADELN competition runs in the Ravensburg district, inviting residents, workers, students and clubs to log as many bicycle kilometres as possible. The event is part of the RadKULTUR programme of the Baden‑Württemberg Ministry of Transport and aims to promote climate protection and healthier mobility.

In Leimen, a free "RadCheck" on 10 June let school pupils and citizens have their bicycles inspected for safety, with the city's mayor John Ehret praising the initiative as preparation for the district’s own STADTRADELN participation (14 June‑4 July).

Mannheim launched its stretch of the competition on 10 June, framing it under the motto “Cycling for a good climate”. The city competes in a kilometre derby against Heidelberg, and local officials, including Mayor Christian Specht, encourage citizens to help reach the goal of one million kilometres. Throughout the three‑week period, municipal partners and cycling organisations support the campaign with events, checks and public outreach.
