Stanbic and France partner to support Ugandan green entrepreneurs

Uganda’s Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Mary Kuteesa Kamuli, has praised a partnership between Stanbic Uganda and the Embassy of France for its role in supporting women and youth-led green enterprises.

During a graduation ceremony in Kampala, 106 entrepreneurs completed the Stanbic GreenTech Accelerator and Incubation Programme. This year-long initiative, funded by a UGX 3 billion partnership, aims to equip participants with the skills and networks necessary to scale climate-smart businesses in sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and the circular economy.

Minister Kamuli noted that achieving Uganda’s goal of tenfold economic growth by 2040 requires removing barriers for women and youth in production. Stanbic Uganda has pledged to mobilize up to one trillion Uganda shillings by 2028 to support sustainable livelihood opportunities, having already raised 440 billion shillings by June 2026.
