Star Trek celebrates 60 years of franchise and fandom

The Star Trek franchise is marking its 60th anniversary, celebrating a legacy that began with the premiere of The Original Series in the United States on September 8, 1966. Over six decades, the universe has expanded to include 11 television series, 14 films, and more than 900 episodes, with content available in over 190 countries.

Creation Entertainment is hosting several events to commemorate the milestone. The Trek to Philadelphia celebration is scheduled for November 14-15 at the Downtown Philadelphia Sheraton Hotel, headlined by Anson Mount and Jeri Ryan. Other upcoming events include a convention in Orlando from March 5-7 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Historically, the franchise's longevity has been supported by dedicated fan communities. Early gatherings, such as the 1969 Star Trek Con in New Jersey and a 1972 event in Manhattan, laid the groundwork for modern fandom, which now includes conventions, podcasts, fan fiction, and digital media.
