Star Trek celebrates 60th anniversary with global events

The Star Trek franchise is celebrating its 60th anniversary on September 8, marking six decades since the original series debuted in 1966. A global lineup of events, screenings, and partnerships has been organized to commemorate the milestone.

In Los Angeles, the Autry Museum will host a free outdoor screening of “The Man Trap” and an advance screening of “Orders of Magnitude.” International celebrations include activities at the International Space Station and London’s Science Museum. Fans are also encouraged to participate in a global Vulcan Salute initiative, which includes an official Guinness World Records attempt in London.

Television programming will also feature the anniversary, with MeTV Toons scheduling a six-episode marathon of “Star Trek: The Animated Series” on September 5. Additionally, themed episodes of various programs and newly restored films will be available in more than 750 theaters across the United States.
