Star Trek fans set Guinness World Record in London
A group of 934 fans gathered at the Science Museum in London to celebrate Star Trek Day and the franchise’s 60th anniversary by setting a new Guinness World Record.
To achieve the record, participants performed the iconic Vulcan salute—a hand gesture popularized by Leonard Nimoy’s character, Spock—simultaneously for one minute. Guinness World Records judge Paulina Sapinska verified the attempt and presented the official certificate to Ben Lheureux, the museum’s commercial director.
Dr. Glyn Morgan, the museum’s chief curator, noted that the record attempt was intended to make the anniversary celebration a memorable event. Actor Martin Quinn, who plays Montgomery “Scotty” Scott in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, also participated in the event.
