Star Wars announces major 2027 expansion and upcoming prop auction

The Star Wars franchise is preparing for significant milestones, including a major film prop auction and a massive expansion of content for 2027.

An upcoming auction titled ‘Ultimate Star Wars,’ scheduled for November 12, 2026, will feature an original Darth Vader lightsaber used during the duel between Vader and Luke Skywalker in ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ The auction house claims this is the only verifiable hero lightsaber from the original trilogy ever offered in a public auction. The sale will also include various other lightsaber hilts from Episodes I through IX.

At New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm revealed plans for 2027, which will mark the 50th anniversary of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope.’ Announcements include the return of ‘Ahsoka’ for a second season and the theatrical release of ‘Star Wars: Starfighter.’ To bridge narrative gaps, Marvel Comics will release a five-issue miniseries, ‘Star Wars: Ahsoka — Escape From Thrawn,’ focusing on Ezra Bridger’s survival following the events of the first season.
