Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches with high critical acclaim
Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, launched on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The title has received critical acclaim, earning a Metacritic score of 88, making it one of the highest-rated Star Wars games in over two decades.
Set in the era of the New Republic following the fall of the Empire, the game features a unique roguelite campaign structure. Players control a pilot named Shade competing in the underground Galactic League. The gameplay involves high-stakes runs where players can upgrade vehicles—including landspeeders, speeder bikes, and podracers—but risk losing progress if they fail too many races.
In addition to standard console and PC releases via Steam and Epic Games Store, the game is available through Amazon Luna, allowing Prime members to stream the title. Various editions are available, including Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions. While some players have reported technical launch issues on Steam, the developer has promised updates to expand multiplayer capabilities.
