Star Wars: Galactic Racer launch and updates

Overview

Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and published by Secret Mode, launched on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna. The title received strong critical acclaim, earning a Metascore of 88, making it one of the highest-rated Star Wars games in over two decades.

Set in the New Republic era, the single-player Galactic Tour utilizes roguelite mechanics where players control a racer named Shade. Players can customize vehicles using over 300 parts across four types: landspeeders, speeders bikes, skim speeders, and podracers. Gameplay emphasizes risk management, allowing players to ram rivals for higher rewards.

Following launch, Fuse Games addressed technical and gameplay feedback through several updates. An initial hotfix (version 1.004.003) was released on October 12 to address stability and crashing, though issues such as UI scaling on Steam Deck and matchmaking difficulties persisted.

On October 26, the developer released a major quality-of-life update. This patch expanded multiplayer party sizes from three to six players and adjusted the in-game economy by increasing credits earned during online multiplayer tours from 4,000 to 6,000. For PC users, the update introduced new keyboard layout options and removed the ‘exit game’ option from the multiplayer menu to prevent accidental closures. Other fixes included spectator camera refinements and a resolution for a PS5-specific issue.

Regarding development, Creative Director Kieran Crimmins noted the team used a physical board game prototype—utilizing paper, Post-it notes, and dice—to validate the ‘emotion’ and satisfaction of the roguelite progression systems before digital implementation.
