Star Wars: Starfighter details revealed at D23

At Disney’s D23 event, director Shawn Levy and actor Ryan Gosling debuted the first footage and details for the upcoming film ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2027, and holds the distinction of being the first Star Wars film set after the events of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’.

Gosling will portray Kade Auberon, described as a cynical outsider from the ‘wrong side of the galaxy’ whose fate is tied to the fastest starfighter ever built—a decommissioned G17 Imperial ship. The footage shown to attendees included a montage of action sequences, featuring alien landscapes, speeder bikes, and droids.

The film features an ensemble cast including Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, and Amy Adams. The script is written by Jonathan Tropper. Fans have noted that the character name ‘Kade’ has sparked speculation regarding potential connections to existing expanded universe lore.
