Star Wars Zero Company offers tactical depth despite technical issues

Star Wars Zero Company is a turn-based tactical strategy game set during the final days of the Clone Wars. Players lead a mercenary squad known as Zero Company, commanded by former Republic officer Hawks, to combat the Separatist faction and prevent the spread of the Shadow Plague.

The gameplay features deep base management at a location called The Den, where players manage resources, recruit operatives, and utilize a black market for upgrades. A central mechanic is permadeath; if an operative sustains three serious injuries, they are killed in action, resulting in the loss of all character progression.

Critical reception highlights a contrast between strong tactical depth and technical execution. While the squad synergies and management systems are praised, the game has faced criticism for technical issues on PlayStation 5, including frequent stuttering. Players have noted that while the permadeath mechanic adds tension, the ability to recruit new custom operators can mitigate the risk to primary characters.
