Bit Reactor faces crisis despite Star Wars Zero Company success

Star Wars Zero Company, a tactical strategy game released on August 27, 2026, by developer Bit Reactor and publisher Electronic Arts, has received critical acclaim and strong sales. The game, which features XCOM-style turn-based gameplay set during the Clone Wars, follows a mercenary squad led by the character Hawks.

Despite its commercial success, Bit Reactor faces significant internal turmoil. Legal documents reveal that approximately 80% of the studio's staff were placed on unpaid furlough weeks before the game's launch due to financial constraints. This situation has been exacerbated by a legal dispute between founders Greg Foertsch and Alison Kelly, with Kelly alleging she was pushed out of the company without proper compensation.

Development history also shows the project underwent a major shift. Originally conceived as a tactical game set in the Titanfall universe with potential ties to Apex Legends, the project was redirected to the Star Wars franchise following input from Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment.
