Starbucks Korea donates 100 million won for disabled dental care
Starbucks Korea used profits from its community‑store outlet at Seoul National University Dental Hospital to create a disability‑focused dental fund. Over six years the store has accumulated about 600 million won, which supports oral‑health treatment and surgery for severely disabled patients who require general anaesthesia. On 5 May the company transferred 100 million won to the hospital, bringing total assistance to 227 patients.
The Seoul‑University‑Dental‑Hospital store is designed for universal access, featuring braille menus, tactile maps, wheelchair‑friendly seating and a mixed workforce of disabled and non‑disabled partners. Starbucks also runs a disability‑art contest that has attracted more than 2,300 participants since 2021; selected artworks are sold as merchandise and the proceeds are fed back into the fund. CEO Shin Dong‑woo said Starbucks will keep expanding its social‑contribution programmes for people with disabilities.
