Starbucks Korea community initiatives
Overview
Starbucks Korea has been expanding its corporate social responsibility programmes through targeted community initiatives. In late July 2026, the company announced a three-year history-and-culture experiential learning programme for approximately 1,000 elementary and middle-school students. Coordinated with ChildFund Korea (formerly Green Umbrella), the initiative involves an annual donation of 300 million won (100 million won per year) to provide hands-on educational opportunities. The first group of participants, including students from the Pureun Narae Local Children's Center, recently visited the National Museum of Korea. The company is currently recruiting its first 500 participants through November, with another 500 to follow during winter vacation.
In addition to youth education, Starbucks Korea has established a disability-focused dental fund. Using profits from its community-store outlet at Seoul National University Dental Hospital—a location designed for universal access with braille menus and wheelchair-friendly seating—the company has raised roughly 600 million won over six years. On 5 May, 100 million won was transferred to the hospital to support oral-health treatments and surgeries for severely disabled patients requiring general anesthesia, bringing total assistance to 227 patients. The fund is also supported by a disability-art contest that has seen over 2,300 participants since 2021, with proceeds from merchandise sales feeding back into the program. CEO Shin Dong-woo stated that the company intends to continue expanding its social-contribution programmes for people with disabilities.
