Starbucks Korea launches personal cup campaign in Jeju
Starbucks Korea is launching the ‘Dadaikseon Campaign’ in Jeju to promote the use of personal cups and resource circulation. In collaboration with the Korea Green Foundation, the company will run the campaign from September 4 to 6 at 35 stores in the Jeju region.
Customers who purchase beverages using personal cups during this period will receive upcycled milk carton memo pads. This incentive is provided in addition to existing benefits, such as a 400 won discount or Eco Star accumulation. The memo pads are manufactured using recycled milk cartons collected from Starbucks stores in Daejeon and Cheongju.
Data from January to August shows that personal cup usage in Jeju is approximately 2.6 times higher than the average at other stores, with one in every six beverages ordered being served in a personal cup. This high usage rate is attributed to the local disposable cup deposit system. Starbucks continues to expand its resource circulation efforts, having collected approximately 87 tons of paper cartons this year for upcycling into products like notebooks and postcards.
