Pellet heating costs surge in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the price of heating pellets has jumped sharply, with listings ranging from 600 KM to as high as 722 KM per tonne – more than double the 561.60 KM ceiling that applied last year. Sellers report that demand has surged since May, prompting companies such as Drvoprodex and Drvoprox to suspend new orders for the next two to three months because production capacity cannot meet the volume of orders. The price of split firewood has also risen by about 20 KM per cubic metre.

In Serbia, pellet prices have risen by 2,000–4,000 dinars per tonne, reaching 38,000–44,000 dinars (roughly €30–40) compared with May levels. Traders attribute the increase to higher production costs, rising fuel prices and strong pre‑winter demand, and advise customers to purchase off‑season when prices are lower. Both markets see consumers facing higher household heating expenses ahead of the winter season.
