Starlink station fire in Poland suspected to be act of sabotage
A fire broke out on the evening of Wednesday, September 23, at a Starlink ground station in Wola Krobowska, Mazovia. The facility, operated by the state-owned telecommunications company Exatel, serves as a critical internet hub for Poland and provides essential connectivity to Ukraine, including for the Ukrainian military.
The fire damaged antennas, a power switchboard, and a generator. While the station remained operational through other means, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that the incident is being investigated as a suspected act of sabotage. He noted that the attack aligns with a “new Russian doctrine” of hybrid warfare intended to disrupt critical infrastructure.
Polish security services, including the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚP), are conducting an investigation. Reports indicate that a bottle resembling a Molotov cocktail was found near the burned switchboard, further fueling suspicions of arson. No injuries were reported during the incident.
