Startale Japan launches Japan’s first digital bond paid in JPYSC stablecoin

Startale Japan has launched the ‘Stablecoin Diffusion Bond,’ Japan’s first digital corporate bond to pay both interest and principal redemption in a yen-denominated trust-type stablecoin, JPYSC. The issuance, which began accepting applications on October 6, 2026, aims to demonstrate how stablecoin infrastructure can integrate with traditional corporate financing and capital markets.

The bond is offered to individual investors and companies within Japan with a fixed annual interest rate of 5.00% (before tax). The total issuance amount is 99.9 million yen, with a one-year term. The JPYSC stablecoin used for payments is issued by SBI Shinsei Trust Bank.

Hakuhodo Key3, a joint venture between Hakuhodo and Startale Group, provided support for product planning, scheme design, and communication strategies for the bond. The initiative seeks to lower remittance costs and explore future possibilities, such as increasing the frequency of interest payments through blockchain technology.
