State Audit Office rejects Péter Magyar's allegations of political bias

The State Audit Office of Hungary (ÁSZ) has rejected allegations made by Péter Magyar regarding the organization's independence and its handling of party financing investigations. Magyar had questioned on social media whether the ÁSZ was protecting the Fidesz party, comparing the current situation to the previous controversy involving the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) foundations.

The ÁSZ issued a statement asserting that it operates as an independent constitutional body according to the law and does not follow instructions from the Prime Minister. The office characterized Magyar's claims regarding Fidesz party financing and MNB foundations as false.

The ÁSZ confirmed that its investigation into campaign financing is proceeding as planned and includes data requests from all involved parties, including both Fidesz and the Tisza Party. The office also noted that a relevant ministry has failed to provide necessary data for its investigations despite multiple requests.
