State Bank of India revises BSBD account withdrawal charges
State Bank of India (SBI) has announced revised cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts opened through its branch channel. The new rules are set to take effect on October 1, 2026.
Under the updated policy, customers will be permitted four free cash withdrawals per month. Any transactions exceeding this limit will incur a charge of ₹15 plus applicable GST per withdrawal. The bank also revised the treatment of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions; previously excluded from the free monthly limit, these will now be counted toward the four-transaction threshold.
While branch-based cash withdrawals will face these new limits, SBI stated that all digital transactions will remain free without restriction. The move is intended to optimize operational costs and encourage digital adoption among basic savings account holders. This announcement follows a strong Q1FY27 performance for the lender, which reported a net profit of ₹21,121 crore.
