Vietnam banking sector accelerates digital transformation via AI and data

At the 2026 Banking Digital Transformation Event in Vietnam, major financial institutions showcased advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to modernize banking services. The event, organized by the State Bank of Vietnam, marked five years of the national digital transformation plan.

Key developments include MB Bank’s BIZ MBBank platform, which uses AI to reduce corporate capital access processing times from 10 days to 2 days. Other institutions highlighted specialized solutions: Nam A Bank introduced a Digital Citizen Station model; MSB launched a new-generation digital platform for businesses using Backbase technology; and SHB presented the SAHA Shop for small businesses.

Banks such as VietinBank and OCB are shifting focus toward data-driven strategies, integrating AI into risk management, personalized services, and operational efficiency. Additionally, institutions like ACB and Sacombank are expanding digital capabilities through electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) processes and cross-border QR payments in regions including South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore.
