State Fair of Texas returns with Big Tex Choice Awards

The State Fair of Texas is scheduled to run from September 25 through October 18 in Dallas. The event features the annual Big Tex Choice Awards, a culinary competition where vendors vie for titles such as Best Taste or Most Creative.

Notable entries in this year's competition include Tommy G’s Flamin’ Hot Cheeto Pizza, a dish that underwent more than 30 recipe attempts before its final version was selected. Other offerings include various creative desserts and alcoholic soft serve floats.

Visitors to the fair can utilize local accommodations, such as the HALL Arts Hotel in the Dallas Arts District, to extend their visit into a weekend staycation. The hotel is located approximately ten minutes from Fair Park and provides access to nearby cultural institutions including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center.
