State of Mexico trains 225 officials in gender-perspective budgeting
The Government of the State of Mexico has conducted eight training sessions aimed at integrating a gender perspective into public administration and budgeting. Facilitated by the Secretariat of Women (SeMujeres), the program trained 225 public servants, consisting of 154 women and 71 men.
The training provided participants with theoretical tools, methodological inputs, and legal frameworks to assist in the planning, programming, and execution of public resources. The initiative seeks to ensure that financial allocations actively work to reduce gender inequality gaps, such as the disparity between paid and unpaid labor, and to guarantee female economic autonomy.
Máreia Esther Rodríguez Hernández, head of SeMujeres, stated that strategic financial orientation is essential for transforming the reality of women in the state. The program aims to channel resources toward prevention, the eradication of violence, and community empowerment projects, ensuring that the state budget serves as an instrument for social justice and inclusive public policy.
