State of Mexico Leads Disarmament Drive and Hosts Inter‑state Security Coordination Meeting
The State of Mexico hosted the Inter‑state Coordination Meeting for Peace and Security in Tecámac, bringing together governors and security officials from Mexico City, Guerrero, Morelos, Querétaro, Puebla, Hidalgo and Tlaxcala. Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez opened the session alongside Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada and other regional leaders.
Separately, the state was highlighted as the top participant in the federal "Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace" program, with residents exchanging 2,766 firearms for cash between October 2024 and June 2026. The initiative involved over 400,000 citizens in more than a thousand community events and resulted in numerous agreements on security measures, including plans for new high‑school facilities and community centers.
