Mexican state legislatures begin new legislative sessions

Various Mexican state legislatures have commenced new legislative periods. In San Luis Potosí, the LXIV Legislature opened its first ordinary session of the third constitutional year, focusing on state and municipal revenue laws and the upcoming expenditure budget.

The Congress of Puebla also inaugurated its first ordinary session for the third year of the LXII Legislature, with 39 deputies in attendance and only two justified absences.

In the State of Mexico, the LXII Legislature reported high productivity during its second year, approving 832 initiatives and agreements. According to José Francisco Vázquez Rodríguez, president of the Political Coordination Board, nearly 94 percent of these approvals were reached by unanimity. Key legislative achievements include the 2026 Fiscal Package, the Law to Prevent, Attend, and Combat Extortion, and new laws regarding public health and animal welfare.
