State Railway of Thailand reopens Chonburi–Bang Phra line after derailment

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has reopened the rail section between Chonburi and Bang Phra following a cargo train derailment. The incident involved freight train number 845, traveling from Lat Krabang ICD to Laem Chabang Port, which derailed near Chonburi Station on September 4, 2026.

Six cargo wagons derailed, obstructing both directions of the eastern line. While no injuries or fatalities were reported, an initial investigation revealed that seven out of eight guard rail bolts were missing from the site. Authorities are investigating whether the theft or loss of these components caused the derailment. The SRT has filed a police report to investigate the potential theft of railway equipment and has urged the public to report any suspicious activity near tracks.
