Staten Island police investigate death of 19-year-old

Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man found in a Staten Island home on Tuesday morning. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious person at a residence on Elmwood Park Drive in the New Springville neighborhood.

The victim was found unresponsive in the living room and was declared dead at the scene by the NYPD. Investigators are treating the case as a suspected homicide due to physical findings, including swelling and bruising around the victim's wrists and ankles, as well as signs consistent with malnourishment.

Sources indicate that the narrative provided by the victim's mother, who placed the emergency call, was inconsistent with the physical evidence found at the scene. Crime scene investigators removed at least five bags of evidence from the home. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
