Statistics Poland conducts Household Budget Survey

Statistics Poland (GUS) is conducting the Household Budget Survey (BBGD) to collect data on the income, expenditures, and living conditions of Polish citizens. The survey serves as a primary source for information regarding spending structures, food consumption, housing conditions, and subjective assessments of material well-being.

Participants are selected randomly, and participation is entirely voluntary. Surveyors may visit households without prior notice; they are required to present identification and a business card. One method of participation involves collecting shopping receipts for a one-month period. If a specific expense is not covered by a receipt, respondents are asked to record the value and the item or service purchased.

Other methods of participation include telephone interviews or maintaining a budget book in either paper or digital formats. The survey is continuous and conducted monthly, meaning households may be selected at any time.
