Statistics Poland conducts household budget survey

Statistics Poland (GUS) is conducting the Household Budget Survey, a year-long study involving randomly selected households. Surveyors may visit residents to request participation in documenting daily expenditures.

Participants are provided with special envelopes to collect shopping receipts to help determine the structure of household spending, income sources, and consumption patterns. Participation is voluntary, and the absence of a receipt does not mean an expense should be omitted; such costs should simply be recorded manually. The study aims to provide statistical data on how citizens allocate their finances and their overall material situation.

Separately, the National Revenue Administration maintains the authority to access bank account information under specific legal circumstances. While large transfers do not automatically trigger tax audits, authorities may investigate transactions where money flows do not align with reported income.
