Stavros Menos resigns from Evros Reconstruction Committee

Stavros Menos has resigned from the Special Committee for the Development and Reconstruction of Evros. In an emergency press conference, Menos stated that his decision is a matter of personal dignity and responsibility, stemming from disagreements regarding the direction of the Evros Masterplan.

Menos argued that the primary challenge for the region is no longer securing funding—noting that approximately 3 billion euros in resources are already available—but rather the implementation of these funds through a unified, cohesive plan. He warned that if the regional program continues to be implemented through fragmented, isolated projects rather than a connected strategic design, the original philosophy of the Masterplan may be lost.

He clarified that his resignation applies to him personally and does not affect the organization ‘DIAZOMA’. He noted that DIAZOMA will continue its activities in the Evros and Northern Euboea regions independently, without state or European funding, having contributed over 2.5 million euros to local actions over the past five years.
