Steam Deck LCD official battery replacement prices rise to $180

The cost of official replacement batteries for the Steam Deck LCD has risen significantly. At iFixit, the original Valve battery now costs $179.99, or $184.99 for a complete repair kit. This represents a 125% increase from its original launch price of $79.99.

This price hike creates a notable disparity compared to the Steam Deck OLED model. The official replacement battery for the OLED version remains priced at approximately $79.99, despite having a higher capacity of 50.08 Wh compared to the 40 Wh capacity of the LCD version. Consequently, users of the original model are paying roughly $100 more for a battery with 20% less autonomy.

While Valve has clarified that it maintains the supply of batteries through an official distribution partner, neither Valve nor iFixit have provided a specific reason for the price increase. Third-party alternative batteries remain available at iFixit for the standard $79.99, though they do not carry the official Valve OEM seal.
