Stefan Raab celebrates 60th birthday and television career

Stefan Raab German television TV total RTL entertainment industry

German entertainer Stefan Raab is celebrating his 60th birthday, marking a career that has significantly shaped the nation's television landscape. Known for his work on 'TV total' and various large-scale events, Raab's career is often viewed in two phases: his prolific early years and his recent return to the screen following a long hiatus that began in 2015.

Colleagues and industry figures have offered tributes to his impact. Drag queen Olivia Jones described him as a creator of 'a new kind of television,' while moderator Jan Köppen noted that his age is not apparent. Despite his recent comeback with RTL, including 'Die Stefan Raab Show,' his return has faced scrutiny. Comedian Oliver Pocher criticized recent broadcast ratings, labeling a specific episode a 'colossal flop' due to low viewership among younger demographics compared to production costs.

Raab's legacy includes successes such as the Eurovision Song Contest win in 2010 and the popular quiz show 'Wer weiß wie wann was war?'.
