Stefano De Martino appointed host and artistic director for Sanremo 2027

Rai has officially announced the regulations for the 77th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, scheduled to take place from February 16 to 20, 2027, at the Teatro Ariston. Stefano De Martino has been appointed to the dual role of host and artistic director, tasked with coordinating the editorial project alongside the Prime Time Entertainment Direction.

The 2027 edition introduces several structural changes. The competition will feature 24 artists in a single category of Champions, including the winner of 'Sarà Sanremo 2026'. A notable new rule prohibits the use of Artificial Intelligence in the creation of songs to protect human creativity, though autotune remains permitted for performance purposes.

The festival format will include two special event nights. The third night will be dedicated to covers, where artists perform Italian or international songs alongside guests; this night will have its own independent ranking. The Friday night, titled the 'Performance Night', will feature artists presenting their songs through unique interpretive or scenic methods. The winner of this specific night, determined by a combination of the public and an international jury of experts, will represent Italy at the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.
