Sanremo Music Festival 2027 preparations

Overview

Rai has announced the regulations for the 77th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, which is scheduled for February 16 to 20, 2027, at the Teatro Ariston. Stefano De Martino has been appointed as both the host and the artistic director to coordinate the festival’s editorial project.

The 2027 competition will feature 24 artists in a single ‘Champions’ category. New structural changes include a rule prohibiting the use of Artificial Intelligence in song creation to protect human creativity, although autotune is still permitted for performances.

The festival will also include two special event nights: a third night dedicated to covers with an independent ranking, and a Friday ‘Performance Night’. The winner of the Performance Night, chosen by an international jury and the public, will represent Italy at the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.
