Tsitsipas advances at Winston-Salem Open after Brooksby win
Stefanos Tsitsipas secured a place in the third round of the Winston-Salem Open with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory over American Jenson Brooksby. Despite committing 45 unforced errors and facing three match points in the second set, the seventh seed managed to overcome the pressure to advance. Tsitsipas noted that mental toughness was key to his performance, stating, ‘It is a matter of mentality. Everyone can hit the ball, but when the moment is more critical, you have to step up.’
In other notable results at the ATP 250 tournament, top seed Daniil Medvedev suffered an early exit, losing to American wild card Martin Damm in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
