Steffen Krach calls for closure of Russian House in Berlin

SPD lead candidate Steffen Krach has called for the closure of the Russian House (Russisches Haus) in Berlin, a cultural and economic center. Krach argued that the center is used primarily for propaganda and lacks value for free cultural or scientific exchange, citing concerns regarding potential sanctions violations and the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.

Krach used the issue to engage in the local political debate regarding expropriation. In a social media post, he used a sign stating, "Hier können wir enteignen, liebe Linke! Seid ihr dabei?" (Here we can expropriate, dear Leftists! Are you in?), targeting the Linke party's demands for the expropriation of real estate corporations. He expressed opposition to these demands, suggesting that if the Linke party insists on them, they must govern Berlin alone.
