Stelios Rokkos reflects on the loss of Giorgos Mazonakis

Singer Stelios Rokkos spoke emotionally about the passing of Giorgos Mazonakis during an interview with Stamatina Tsimtsili on Happy Day. Rokkos reflected on their long-standing relationship, noting that he first met Mazonakis in 1991 in Patra when both were unknown artists. He described Mazonakis as a unique artist possessing innate star power.

Rokkos expressed deep sympathy for Mazonakis’s family, particularly his mother, noting the negative comments the family has faced due to the artist's lifestyle. He remarked that the silence of the grieving family could be more powerful than any outcry.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Antonis Remos, who proceeded with a scheduled concert in Thessaloniki following Mazonakis’s death, Rokkos stated that the public cannot know the true nature of the relationship between the two colleagues. He noted that it is impossible to say whether he would have cancelled a concert under similar circumstances.

Finally, Rokkos explained his absence from Mazonakis’s funeral, stating that past difficult personal losses have deeply affected his ability to attend such services.
