Stella Lefty releases debut album amid industry scrutiny
Singer-songwriter Stella Lefty has released her debut studio album, ‘Long Way Home’, on August 21, 2026. The fourteen-track project follows a stylistic shift toward contemporary country-pop, building on the success of her breakout single ‘Boston’, which features co-writer Noah Kahan.
Lefty’s rapid rise has been accompanied by various controversies, including accusations of being an ‘industry plant’ due to her father, Groupon co-founder Eric Lefkofsky, and allegations of musical similarities to other artists. These include discussions regarding her song ‘Summer You Were Mine’, which interpolates ‘There’s Your Trouble’ by The Chicks, and perceived similarities between her tracks ‘Misery’ and ‘Why Wouldn’t We’ and works by other musicians.
Despite the criticism, country music legend Randy Travis has expressed high praise for the artist, noting she could compete with the best in Nashville. Lefty frequently performs covers of Travis’s music during live shows.
