Stellantis and Dongfeng launch 1-billion-euro joint venture in China

Stellantis and Dongfeng have officially launched a new joint venture in Wuhan, China, named Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Technology. The entity has a registered capital of approximately 8.2 billion yuan (about 1 billion euros) and aims to develop and commercialize a new generation of electrified models for both Chinese and international markets.

Starting in 2027, the Wuhan plant is scheduled to produce two Peugeot New Energy Vehicle (NEV) models, followed by two Jeep NEV off-road models intended for global distribution. While the new company will manage research, development, and brand management, physical production will remain under the existing production joint venture.

The ownership structure includes Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile at 24.13%, followed by Wuhan Financial Holding Group and Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group at 19.52% each. Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor Group each hold a 13.53% stake, with Changjiang Industrial Investment Group holding 9.76%.

Beyond China, the companies are also discussing a separate joint venture (51% Stellantis, 49% Dongfeng) to import and sell high-end Voyah models in Europe. There are also preliminary discussions regarding the potential production of Chinese models in Europe, specifically at the Rennes plant in France.
